Search for #wristtattoo and #cutetattoo on Instagram or 'wrist tattoo' on Pinterest and you will be entranced like me. The tattoo designs were so beautiful and inspiring that I decided it was time to set in ink what I've always wanted.
I googled for a few tattoo studios in Singapore and decided on Ink By Finch. A few reasons that attracted me to the place:
1. There's Joe - owner of the place. He's friendly, very experienced, and his customers love him.
2. There were many similar designs to the kind I want on their website.
3. It's not in Far East Plaza.
I emailed Joe on pricing, he quoted me $50 for a small tattoo. Reasonable. One thing not to do, I've read, is to bargain for a lower value of something that's gonna be permanent on your body. I also made the appointment via email.
The shop's tucked away in a corner with a small but comfortable interior; Joe was there with his assistant. Linkin Park's latest album played in the background.
I told Joe what I wanted, and he opened his laptop to allow me to select the font and also the specific size. He printed the design out, I approved it, and it turned into a sticker that was transformed onto my wrist - this ensured that it was the exact design.
When the needle first went in, I felt nothing. Then as it moved along, it felt like an annoying sharp pinch that wouldn't go away. The pain was lesser than what I've felt at dental clinics and my historic fracture.
Joe had extremely steady hands and it was all done within the span of two Linkin Park songs. One of the songs was "Powerless", very apt in that moment HAH.
I absolutely adore the end result, it's exactly what I want. They've got Instagram (@IBF2) and a Facebook page too, Joe posts regularly, mostly the latest artwork that he's proud of.
