Nice ambience. No hard selling. Customised massage. Friendly staff.
Located at the central area of Singapore at 313@Somerset, I was really in luck when they offered us the chance to book one complimentary session to try out either their massage or facial treatment after attending their V10 Plus Star Blogger event previously. Jess and I both chose the massage therapy.
From the moment I've stepped into Spa Symphony, I can straight away feel the serenity. The whole atmosphere and calming music just transport me to a relaxed state of mind. Jess and I were served hot ginger tea while we waited for our slot.
Filled up a simple questionnaire with regards to which area we want them to pay extra attention to. For me is my shoulder, the muscles around my shoulder area has been really tight, and I really need somebody to help me relieve this tension. Moreover, just recovered from my first hot yoga session with my colleagues two days back. So this massage really comes at the right timing.
This is the massage room where I am in for the full 60 minutes massage therapy. Was asked to changed into the disposable undies and cap and have to lie face down. The bed kind of have a heater underneath it so it feels warm and comfortable. I'm a person who's have little tolerance for cold temperature so this warm bed is just nice for me.
My massage therapist for the night is a lady from China. She asked me to remember her name by remembering the fruit 'Pineapple' cause her name is Wang Li which sounds like Pineapple in Chinese.
I'm glad she really focused on my affected areas and spent more time working on those areas, like my shoulders and lower thighs. I told her sometime when I was sleeping, I would experience cramps in my lower thighs. It's like the muscles suddenly contract and cause a spasm. She say that I didn't exercise enough and didn't stretch enough.
That's the problem of whole day working in front of a computer in the office. Now, as I blogged, I can feel my shoulder ache coming back again. My poor sitting posture must have caused the aching sensation to come back.
After applying pressures, she told me that the toxic is leaving my body and my back is very red and I asked her to take a photo so I can see for myself. Really quite red, machiam like I've been tortured. That red line near my shoulder area looks like I've been whipped by someone.
Embarrassed to say this, but when she was massaging my lower thighs, it was so painful that I cannot tolerate and let out a few screams in between. That didn't make her soften the pressure as she say if she do it gently, there won't be any effect at all.
Before the whole massage session ends, she helped me heals my body by ringing this Tibetan Singing Bells three times. This was known as the Sound Healing Therapy and is said to be able to alleviate daily stress and promote better sleeping order. The soft and calming vibration from the bell creates an overall general well-being.
I'm a satisfied reviewer today as I felt totally refreshed and rejuvenated after the 60 minutes massage.
Spa Symphony has placed their focus on peripheral senses. From the moment I entered, the greenery surrounding seemed to make me feel peaceful. It helped to reduce muscle tension related to stress and gently calm. Well, when I was on my way here, my mind was actually preoccupied with some stuffs. But when I was at Spa Symphony, I had totally forget about my worries and allow myself to relax.
Their therapy actually began the moment we entered the premises.
Ginger tea was served while I waited for my appointment.
After a short while, I was being led into my treatment room by my therapist.
Wow, the room seemed really cosy. It made me feel relaxed.
There was also a locker for us to safe-keep our belonging.
Change into my green robe.
Time to proceed to the bed and began my Classic Skincare Facial.
The Classic Facial is a basic European facial for professional cleansing and balancing. It includes a base mask and pressure point face massage. Suitable for all skin types.
Duration: 60 minutes
My session began with shoulder and chest massage. It helped to release tension and set our mood right. It was really an enjoyable one.
My therapist performed a double cleansing - milk and gel cleanser.
This will ensure that our face are thoroughly clean. Especially when we had makeup on, one time cleansing is definitely not enough.
Scrubbing was next. Remove the dead skin cells on my face so that new skin cells will be able to grow. Spa Symphony uses organic skincare products that will enhance the healing of our skin and richer benefits.
Next was steaming which will facilitate the ease of extraction later on.
Extraction! The part where I dragged the most. Gonna bear with it in order to clear by blackhead and whiteheads.
It is perfectly normal for our skin to look slightly red after the extraction.
Don't worry, it will go off in awhile.
Time for cooling off after the extraction: Mask time!
While I had my mask on, my therapist used Tibetan Singing Bells and rang it 3 times.
It had the benefits of clearing negative energy, restoring harmony and balance. I felt so comfortable lying down with my mask on. The relaxing ambiance put me to a good 10 minutes rest.
After the mask.
And with the application of toner, eye-cream, moisturiser and sunblock, my facial session was completed.
It was a good one hour pampering session, I truly enjoyed the facial at Spa Symphony.
Pardon my messy hair after the session.
Immediately after the treatment, I could feel that my skin is more refreshing and blackheads/whiteheads are cleared. My skin is now giving a healthy glow.
Recently, everyone (including me) staying in this little small dot on the map is leading a hectic and busy lifestyle as our country, Singapore is always on the move. We are probably the one of the fastest countries in the world. Although we are small on the map but we are big in name for our standard of living, as the living standard is very high in Singapore, and thus resulted in many people being burdened with heavy schedules and workloads in order to catch up the pace of our urban lifestyles.
Yes, I am also leading a busy life as I have to juggle many jobs/roles in life, apart from being a full-time employee in a Marine Industry, I am also a dog-sitter, taking care of my adorable furkid, Coco. I also have to make time to blog, attend events and even catch up with friends for meals or gatherings and lastly squeeze some quality time with my Baby, luckily, he is pretty understanding and kinda supports what I am doing in my life. So basically in short, I am left with very little time to pamper myself.
After attended the V10 Plus Star Blogger Event at Spa Symphony which is located at 313@Somerset, and when Spa Symphony offered their classic massage service to me, I knew I had to grab this precious opportunity. *I am in the state of ecstasy* It has been a long time since I indulged myself for a nice body massage treatment after work.
I headed down to Spa Symphony, situated in the heart of town and it offers a complete relaxation spa experience that is nourishing and cleansing for physical, mental and emotional health.
We were served with hot tea while waiting for the rooms to get ready, therefore Jas Jas and I took this chance to do our usual liking, cam-whoring lol...
As I was walking through the pathway to my respectively room, it calmed my mind and soul before receiving my treatment.
I took a picture of the room that I will be receiving my treatment in.
I kept my belongings in the cabinet while doing my body massage.
There is one very interesting thing, I discovered in every treatment room... YES, this is it, the wall chart where you can place the magnet in those areas that you want to focus on mostly. I chose to place the magnets to signify my neck and lower back. You are allowed to choose the pressure too, I chose in between light and medium. And lastly place the rating after completion of the treatment...
Here I go heading on bed to enjoy my 1-hr Relaxing Therapeutic Massage...
For the first 30mins of the massage, It was whopping with pain and aches as the therapist claimed that my whole back and neck areas were very tight and they somewhat know that I have not been visiting the spa for such treatments for a very long time. I was glad that the massage really did a great help to release my tight muscles tension, and the last 30 minutes was a blissful one as all the aches and discomfort simply disppeared and I felt that I am in a dreamy land when the treatment was still on... *SHIOK*
Spa Symphony has a unique kind of way to start and end my massage treatment, as per the therapist, this is an essential step for all their customers. I began my massage with a Tibetan Sound Healing Therapy, an exclusive practice to effectively help alleviate daily stress, promote better sleeping order and dissolve physical, mental and emotional blockages.
For centuries, Tibetan Singing Bells have been used for healing, meditation, clearing negative energy and restoring harmony and balance. Each treatment begins with a clear, pure Tingsha cleansing sound.
The highlight of my massage treatment is that the therapist focused pretty much on my problem areas to relieve muscle aches, tensions and knots, and the Tibetan Singing Bells therapy helps to release my stress and promote better sleep at night and lastly the specially blended ginger tea was served to complete sensory body massage experience with Spa Symphony.
Thank you so much for having us, Spa Symphony (:
Booked for a massage the previous weekend. I reached the spa about 15minutes earlier and the staff informed me that they are not able to locate my reservation. They enquired if I received any confirmation phone call the day before. Negative. They told me that I should (oh yea, and how am I suppose to know that?).
However I was pleasantly surprised that after scrambling around for a while, the staff actually managed to accommodate me for a 60 minutes massage.
While waiting for the massage, the staff came over and tried to promote different type of oil to me and another customer. However, I was again pleasantly surprised that they were not pushy, at all. The moment we declined the offer, she backed off.
Shortly after, my therapist came for me. Interestingly, they have a board on the door of the wardrobe whereby we can indicate our pressure preference (once again) and if there is any parts which require attention.
I am in dilemma as to how to rate my therapist. She is good in the sense that she was able to detect which are my tension areas. She is also strong (my preferred pressure was medium to strong), usually in other spa, what I would receive will be light pressure instead. On the other hand, this lady is too strong. Perhaps it is because she was using her thumb/finger strength instead of palm. Thus after a while, it felt more like a painful torturing session instead of a massage. I feel that if the therapist master the art of using her full palm for massage, she will be a good one.
Not to forget, on the board forementioned, there is also a section which allow us to rate the service - poor, average, good and excellent. After the massage, I was given the choice of either lemon grass tea or water. The staff came by to enquire if I would like to purchase their package, and similarly, after I declined, they went off immediately.
The staff were approachable, all communications were clearly made and friendly advices were given regarding what is best for our body condition. We did a $30 top up for their Shape Essential Oils for our massage. Its say to be able to improve our blood circulation, boost energy level, firms and shape up our bodies!
First stop - 40 minutes private jacuzzi session with 'Dead Sea Mineral Rich Salt Crystal'!
Jacuzzi's water temperature was pre-set at a rather high degree and it was unchangeable. It was pretty unbearable when I entered, slowly the body got used to it so everything is still alright :) I can't wait for the 40 minutes to be over because the massage is the real event I'm looking forward to haha! Once Jacuzzi time was over, took a bath and prepared for massage!!
Major love their in house slipper! Pretty shade of pastel mint green! SLIPPER Y U SO NICE!
Got out of the Jacuzzi room and headed for the lounge outside where drinks is already prepared for us! :)
J took this, pretty! Thanks boy _
After the drinks, the massage therapist led us to the massage room! Didn't have time to snap any picture, too eager to set my mind to relaxation so here's some picture from their official site.
Notice that white board on the cupboard? It's actually a magnetic board when you can place the provided round magnet at places of the body you would like the therapist to focus on (eg. shoulder, waist, thighs). And the stars are ratings! After the entire session is finished, you can use identical magnets to rate their performance :)
It was a good 60 minutes of body massage! The therapist did refer to my white board arrangement and focus on my stiff shoulder aches. And honestly, I've been rubbing these shoulder at home either by myself, my mum or my brother but it didn't really heal much. But after that hour of magic touch, I left the room ache free.
I got a chance to try this outlet due to a UOB promotion for first time customers at $28 for 1 hour massage. I was surprised that they had available slots at 6:15pm on a Sat evening but was game to try it anyway.
The usual form filling took place at the reception and we were asked to sit at the waiting area. Not soon after, a staff came over to 'sell' their bottles of essence oils, which were priced at $38 per bottle (and they were small bottles!) and she was polite and not pushy and all that but no thanks.
For the massage itself, I got a Chinese national masseur and she looked quite petite and I wondered if she would have the strength to do it. But I was so wrong.
What was supposed to be a relaxing massage quickly dipped when she told me I had serious problems with my shoulders and lower back and started focusing alot of these 2 areas, so much so she only managed to cover the back part of my body without the other side being massaged.
Which was actually okay for me as I really think the massage helped although it left me with bruises for the next 3 days. But the process was just painful.
Skill wise, I think my masseur was not bad actually. Kudos to her for having the strength to knead me into a pained mush.
After the treatment, they came with the expected package approach but we werent there for that. At about $300 for 5 massages, the price is not beyond reasonable but packages are quite a hazard nowadays so didnt want to take that risk.
Overall a pleasant experience still.
