i really liked the colour tone that Eddie suggested me to have. it's a brown colour with light highlight but still looks good and not too bright.
The second visit I made was for a matrix hair treatment at 313, which is a sub outlet with slightly cheaper prices ($43 for a haircut with wash and blow).
The whole treatment lasted for about an hour.
And heres what happened during the treatment
1- washing of hair with a relaxing head massage (i loved the massage)
2- applying of hair chemical
3- letting the chemical set for 15 minutes
4- rinsing off the chemical
I bought this from groupon hence it was $28 instead of the usual $128.
I went for the treatment at 4pm hence there werent many people there.
Service was quite good or maybe cause the head massage made me so happy.
Overall I was quite satisfied.
But I left wondering something- what did the treatment do to my hair?
There wasnt really a consultation to tell us what they were using, etc.
and hardly any interaction with the hairstylist.
And I didnt really have the opportunity to take pictures. Cause I was blind without my glasses but heres an after photo of my hair(:
My hair was much more manageable after the treatment, even though I hardly have problems with my hair. Since my hair is often in close contact with sea water, its important to protect it, which is why I use a lot of hair care products (mostly conditioners). Prevention is always better than cure.
My hair is also bleached brown due to the sea water and sun, even though it doesnt really show it here. Quite happy for that fact . It will be much easier if I intend to dye my hair in the future.
Shunji Matsuo is quite the revered name for great haircuts in Singapore. I had heard my friend rave about him and his team of stylists. Back in 2005, I had paid s$70ish for a hair cut by one of his senior stylists. It was great but I just couldnt afford repeated visits.
Since then, the Shunji Matsuo business sms to have grown with a number of their smaller salons in Singapore.
Just a week ago, I saw a Groupon deal for hair treatment at one of their outlets (313 located at Somerset station) and leapt at the chance to get my hair done on the cheap!
It was a special treatment with a light head massage and I had to sit for 20 mins with my hair wrapped in cellophane.
Afterwards, I paid extra for a haircut by the master stylist, Zenn. She did a fab job!
I had my haircut done at Shunji Matsuo 313 since River flew back to Taiwan for a holiday. Sadness, anyone with short hair would probably share the same sentiments. But!! I had my pixie haircut done, shorter than the one I already had before. I really love how fresh it looks on me!! Like massively love it so much. Plus I spend lesser time in the shower conditioning my hair, major plus point to save time!
2 rounds of bleaching before the colouring!
i like how violet goes with silver so well!
top is black, middle portion is blue and the bottom third is violet! I couldnt choose between the two colours, so i just went with both!
i really wanna add in streaks of dark hot pink to the purple soon! itll make it more pinkish and girly, i hope.
this is how i look with my hair let down. its nothing too crazy. the colours are more obvious when i tie my hair up. i like the versatility
well, as you might have already spotted, I do have some portions of blonde bleached hair that still need to be dyed with the colours.
I do have a complimentary colour touch up session within 2 weeks of my colour session so all should be fine by then
this violet bleeds like crazy in the shower, so frequent touchups are needed. red is definitely more long-lasting.
my hairs quite soft now despite the bleaching because ive been pampering the strands with hair masks and leave-on treatments! japanese haircare products tend to work better on my coloured hair, so im using Essentials Haircare series and Asience Haircare Series.
oh yes, I went to Shunji Matsuo 313@ Somerset and got Eddie (Master Stylist) to colour my hair.
I paid everything in full (10% off for quoting YiJings name), so Im not sponsored or paid to publish this post, rather, Im just sharing my favourite salon place to get my hair colour done and hopefully, youll be as satisfied as i am with your hair colour done there!
I had my red hair done by Caely and got SO SO SO SO MANY compliments for the colour back then. I cant really decide if i prefer this more than the red because theyre all unique in their own way.
I definitely feel more hippie with this more unusual hair colour
Am enjoying it so far!^^
took half-day on thursday to dye my hair !
back to shunji matsuo@313, which was where i went for my last dye job in dec.
the color lasted quite well, and i wanted to try the treatment this time :B
my stylist was zenn, and she was really nice and patient!
i wanted to do electric blue streaks next time, and she helped answer the many queries i had.
she advised me to do the treatment this time to prep my hair for the pre-lightning process,
and also told me how it would turn out after multiple washes (ashy-blue).
heheheh probably gonna do this wild color in the future.
loved how my red hair turned out
Its been 2 weeks + + Ive dyed my hair. Initially it was really ultra marine blue but now it has faded to turquoise!! Super loves! I dye 2 colours: Turquoise + Shocking Pink but it seems like it has multiple colors! Like what most of my friends called: Peacock.. The color just drop every single wash.. I guess I would need to touch them up soon For now.. photos for my memory
Done by Caely from Shunji Matsuo Hair Salon at 313
And I recently discovered this GIANT mandarin oranges, they are super cute!
Decided to get a haircut because I cant stand the length and heaviness of my hair. The last time I got a trim was in late October, it has been over 10 weeks. I wanted to keep the length of my hair but needed to trim the ends and tame the layers.
My sister has gotten her hair cut at Shunji Matsuo @ Somerset313 several times before, so I decided to check out the place. I booked an appointed with a Master Stylist (which is an intermediate between the Director and Junior Stylist). The hair stylist name was, Eddie. When I walked into the salon, they seated me right away and brought several magazines for me to read. Eddie was still working on another customer, even though I made an appointment. However, less than 3 minutes after being seated, Eddie came by to take a look of my hair and asked what I wanted to get done. I told him that I wanted a trim because my hair was getting messy. He asked about my curls and asked whether this was what I wanted. I answered that I liked the curled ends but not the top part, it was too puffy. He mentioned that it will be better to cut of 2 inches of my hair to make it neater. This is because my hairstyle had a V-shape before with the wispy layers, which tends to make the curls messy. He said evening out the layers by changing the shape of my hairstyle to a U-shape will be better. I agreed to his suggestion and let him do his magic.
My hair feels so much lighter and neater after the cut. His styling hands are magical! He blow dried my curls to look bouncy and flowly. I felt like a princess after he was finished with my hair. I wish he could do my hair everyday.
At the end of the styling process, he gave me several recommendations for my hair type (digitally permed/naturally wavy hair). Below are the recommendations:
Put wax on wet hair so that it will work more efficiently. When putting wax, extend hair horizontally (pulling method) so that product is evenly distributed.
Blow dry bangs in the opposite different of the parting so it will be straighter.
I wanted my bangs to be shorter but he said they were too curly so he kept the length. Plus, he said that with my forehead being rather broad, a longer side swept bangs will look more flattering.
Twist hair inwards when blow drying.
He mentioned that the top and inner part of my hair are too curly. He said for naturally wavy hair, it is difficult to maintain digitally permed hair, unlike those with straight hair. In my case, the top part of my hair (which is very unruly) should have been smoothed out first. Because now, the top part of my hair is too curly, making it look messy.
He recommended that I smooth out the poofy area with a treatment called cosme creme. He said that it is a permanent hair re-texturizing treatment. It smooths out curls but still leaving its shape, thus my ends will still be curled. It ranges from $250-$300 for the cosme creme treatment.
Overall, Im very satisfied with the service Eddie provided and his recommendations for my hair. I am seriously considering the cosme creme treatment done. For those of you in Singapore, I highly recommend Eddie at Shunji Matsuo. Priced at $48 for a haircut, his experience and understanding of his customers preferences are priceless.
Mom goes to Shunji Matsuo for many years now, and a few weeks back, she came home with really nice soft rebonded hair, I was very impressed (for the first time). As last year, the person who did hers ended up being so disastrous and it is really an emotional scar to pay a bomb for the hair service and be unsatisfied with it.
Mom told me to go Shunji Matsuo at 313 Somerset and look for Caely. So I called up and made an appointment in a jiffy, I got a slot. No hassle to mulling back and forth on dates or time slots.
Here I am with my horrible ugly puffy hair and eye bags. PARDON ME!
As you can see, my fringe is always kept long, as it curls easily, the weight of the long fringe wil pull it down. And most hair dressers wont cut my fringe short for the fear that it might bounce back to being curly. I always thought so too.
Two ladies who did the chemical part and hair washing/blowing part asked if I was one of the bloggers. I was surprised, like hmm? what? I didnt catch it. Then I realized they were asking if I was one of their sponsored bloggers. I was like hm no, why? I hope I can be though. They said oh you look like one. How nice of them. I didnt put on make up or anything, and dressed comfortably (means sort of crappily). So Yes Amen, I hope they will.
I spend alot on rebonding throughout my life and one of my hope is that I get a hair sponsor since I will make good advertisement for people with stubborn curly hair. And I dont dye or highlight my hair although I have always loved to have something copper reddish black or brown, simply because I cant afford to pay more after the rebonding, treatment and haircut.
This time, I thought I wanted to try something different to have a swept fringe look that covers my forehead. I think I look younger like that, plus i have high forehead (..) I showed Caely one picture that looked like what I wanted, and she encouraged me to go for it. She also said it wont be a problem after the fringe is bring rebonded, it will stay and not go crazy. PLUS, she helped me change my parting. My parting has never changed from young, it was always on the left side, but i noticed that the parting will grow too pronouced. I had to get used to having hair parting the other side now.
Caely used Cosmic cream for rebonding and cut my hair If I am not wrong, only Shunji Matsuo has this cosmic cream where, although it takes a little longer time and less damaging to the hair, keeping it soft and natural looking. I was quite hesitant at first about cutting my fringe short, but she patiently reassured me many times and it will look great.
4-5 hours later
What I did? Soft Rebonding with Cosmic Cream, and Hair cut.
After rebonding, Im not supposed to wash it for 24 hours, So heres what it looks like at home. I like how it looks NATURAL and not DEAD STRAIGHT.
& I also like to push my hair backwards when I find that it irritates my forehead and eyes abit. So i get two different looks now. (Oh thats just Mels empty Hermes box)
& heres one of me with Dahpne, at her esplanade open night gig. (Shes looking punky rock star now following her dreams.)
I like this picture with my hair looking neat and pushed back naturally. :) & I dont need to worry about blowing or drying, I left it to dry naturally.
We were old time kiddy best friends back in Primary School at St Margs. (Those who dont know Daphne Khoo, she was in Singapore Idol, she recently released her new single Carry On can purchase it here )
I think I found myself a place I can go to do my hair regularly from now, as I am quite terrified of hair cuts etc, I used to cry everytime I cut my hair, but this time I am really happy with it. The feeling of pain sitting there for 4-5 hours, paying a big sum of money, and later feeling like its all worth it because I am happy with the service and results, friends commenting that it looks great. It feels like its all worth it, and that is how you are suppose to feel!
I really love my hair!!!
This is not an advertorial or sponsored post by the way.
Just sharing because I think everyone deserves nice hair.
And because some of you have been asking on my FS!
I got my hair done at 313 Shunji Matsuo (recommended by Mel!),
and my haircut and perm is done by Jerry whos the Master Stylist there!
He suggested me to perm my fringe after I complained that my fringe is flat and has gaps all. the. freaking. time.
And I was a bit like huhhhhh perm fringe omg, will it be very curly??!
Its actually just a subtle perm for the fringe!
And I like how it turned out!!
No more annoying gaps in the fringe, so much easier to manage now!
The sad thing is the fringe perm will only last for a month or so
Definitely going back to get it permed again!
Photos from my instagram!
First day after the perm.
Well, Im actually not a fan of such girly curls.
I prefer random, messy curls.
Hahahaha, Im weird.
So after my first wash, I let my hair dry naturally to get the curls I want.
(As taught to me by Jerry, haha)
I forgot what perm I did already though,
but you can ask Jerry, he should remember!
Yay to good hair days!
And can I just say again, having a permed fringe is so damn awesome.
