Just a few weeks ago I had a hair cut
It was a challenged to make decision where to go for a good and reasonable price
Ive had a few experienced cutting hair in Singapore
It wasnt my favorite to be honest!
I had an experience with the famous Shunji Matsuo at Isetan Wisma Atria
A friend of mine recommended me to go there and so I decided to go (few years ago)
It was very pack and there were many hair dresser around
So to speak, it was a little messy!
I was assigned to this gentleman
I told him precisely my problem and what I wanted to see ( A bloody change of course)
I said I want to see some layering and volume,
Trim a little and not too much ya da ya da
He cut my hair very little as if he was rushing to do more commission from other clients
I realized (cuz I was paying attention to what he was doing) he did not do any layering
Therefore my hair was still looking pretty dead instead of voluminous
I told him about it just so maybe he had forgotten about that part
And to my shocking, the only thing he did
He layered only the front part of my hair
Meaning, between your ears area ONLY!
Wow terrible experienced and I paid SGD48++
Ok, some of you may say it is because I had the junior instead of the senior
I could change your mind about that because the last place I went was amazing
It only cost me SGD50 FIXED!
Ive done many research and a lot of experienced women in Singapore introduced Kimage
I lived nearby at Dhoby Ghaut area and I remember seeing Kimage Prestige
There are prices range from 50 60 and 70
As soon as I arrived (Saturday), I was very lucky to get one hairdresser to fix me
I wanted 70 to try out the best but He/She wasnt available
Reminder: You need to make an appointment with the 60 and 70 bucks lol
I told the man to just appoint me to anybody whos currently available
Ivan was my hairdresser
Hes from Malaysia and has been working for Kimage Prestige for a few years
Basically, the hairdressers in Kimage Prestige at Plaza Singapura are very professional
If you hated salon with a lot of hard selling, try Kimage Prestige!
They do not appoint you to try this and that
Buy this and that you name it!
You want a cut, they will do you a cut, thats that!
Unless you ask for some treatment etc, which I did but they did not push me at all
My hairdresser did what I wanted him to do, Layering and keep the volume
I love my old hair, they are long, naturally straight but heavy!
I was very happy with my cut and It felt very light on my head
Here is a picture of Before and After
I did my own curling on the After look
In Singapore, It is hard to find someone who can curl your hair nicely unless you do perm
I love curling my own hair as they looked very natural
I made an appointment at Kimage, Plaza Singapura in February 2012, and it was the best thing I ever did because that was when I met Irene!
She looked so upset when she first touched/saw my hair, and when I lamented my previous experience to her she gave me so much assurance that she will help to heal the condition of my hair. She told me my hair texture is fine, but I have thick hair (which pleased me to no end. lol.) and she suggested we frame my face with bangs and of course, chop off those dry dead ends! No empty promises though, she said itll take time + effort to get back those healthy tresses I knew then that she wont be a pushy salesperson.
February 2012, post-Irene.
My first visit with Irene, she snipped off 5 inches of my hair and I panicked A would kill me! lol. But really I already looked a lot better. My girlfriends were so excited when they saw my new hairstyle, and A grudgingly agreed that I looked so much fresher.
Two months later, I began freaking out over new split ends and I quickly made a second appointment with Irene. She commended me for taking care of my hair because she could see the improved condition from when I first saw her. Lol. Dont you love a stylist who knows hair so well that she could tell I was putting in the effort just by a look and a touch? She suggested we rebond my hair that visit and honestly, I thought this woman is crazy! I didnt want flat hair my heads too big for a mop to fall over! Again, Irene assured me that it will turn out great she planned on only rebonding the lower half of my head and will most definitely not rebond my fringe. Three hours later, and I was so happy with what the Rebonding Queen did. lol. My hair was so soft and shiny, and the results threw out my misconceptions of what rebonded hair would look. I met my bestie, Ernie a few days after and she agreed that it was a good job my hair looked so natural, she said. She should know, because shes been rebonding her hair for years. Even my boss did a double-take when he saw me the following Monday. lol.
April 2012, with Irene.
I just visited Irene for the third time and while she would have scolded me for entertaining any thoughts of doing any chemical treatments on my hair a mere four months ago, this time she suggested we color my hair. In RED, no less. Again, I thought she was crazy but I really do trust her so I said okay. Two hours later, we both laughed when I said I looked like Strawberry Shortcake! lol. Its different but not insane and I actually really like the new color.
Irene and I have a shared joke that I step out of Kimage with a new look after each visit
After meeting Irene, I firmly believe that its important to have a hairstylist/hairdresser whom you can trust. Your hair frames your face, its one of the things people first notice about you and you really need someone on your side to help you look your best. She doesnt have to be a senior stylist at a prestigious salon (the person who destroyed my hair two years ago was from a prestigious salon), but once you find someone who is committed to taking care of your hair and who wont do anything that will make you feel ugly for the next two months (or years) then have her on speed-dial. She will be worth every penny and minute you spend on her salon chair.
I decided to leave my fate to Cecilia from Kimage Prestige @ PS. Stylist from this salon are Kimages top stylist, they are mostly master stylist. And there were online reviews on Cecila that are positive and thus I decided to go for her!
She is very detailed. Whatever she is doing to your hair such, she will explain to you how she is going to do it and why she choose to do it this way and make sure you agree before she touches your hair! She asked a lot of questions about your hair so that she can tell you if your hair is suitable to do this this this. She also gives you a lot of advice on how to take proper care of your hair and teach you some tips on styling and managing your hair. Especially for ppl like me who is going through a virgin perm.
And thus, I spent 4 hours in the salon, sitting down to read magazine, got my hair washed for a few times and feeling hungry while perming my hair. below are the photos I took throughtout the perming session:
She didnt want to perm my fringe and thus there was a clip right in the middle of my head, And that thing behind my head, it generate heat out. I guess it aids in helping my hair to absorb the smelly solution to soften my hair. When the time is up, instead of normal alarm, theres music!
I was reading magazines and took some snapshot of beauty tips, make-up and FOOD!
She uses medium and large sized rollers to perm my hair because my hair isnt that very long still and using small rollers will curl my hair more and make me look much older. Withh the rollers and cotton thingy on my head, I feel as though I have 2-3kg worth of hair on my head. Super heavy! And when she pluck in the wires to the rollers for digital perm, the weight immediately x 2!!! Luckily I need not have it on me for too long.
1st picture: too bored while seeing some smoke above my head
2nd picture: when the rollers are removed, my hair turns out this way. I was super scared my hair will be like that and I look worst than those typical auntie perm! I told Cecilias assistance if I really look like this, Ill shave my hair off!! LOL
3rd picture: Applying some moisturizer to my hair
And after Cecilia blowdry my hair for me and cut my fringe Im glad it looks natural and suits me! Love it!!!
But maintaning it isnt easily..
you probably cannot tell but i spent $120 on my hair just this afternoon. i found this new stylist @ kimage plaza singapura and shes pretty awesome. i like the way she cut my fringe, although it doesnt quite show in the photos. she did this tiered thing that looks really nice and goes really well with my natural curls, which is so rare.
Went to Kimage Prestige at Plaza Singapura yesterday and guess what I did? I cut and dyed my hair Haha, I cut my fringe too, but its not the very short type because the stylist was afraid that I might not get used to it and I wanted something that is easy to maintain too so I ended up in this You might not be able to see much difference in this picture but I think its quite nice
