As a birthday gesture, someone took me to Jean Yip Hairdressing for a haircut. I normally just head to the express or neighbourhood hairdressers, so this was my first pampering experience.
The hairdresser was very amicable and asked me for my preferences. I told her what I wanted and she started soon enough. A cup of hot green tea was even brought in for me. It wasn't a bad touch. She made some small talk as she cut my hair and treated my scalp to an invigorating head massage. I appreciated her not attempting to push me into buying other packages.
I did get a nice haircut, but the maintenance was another story. My hair poofed out after a couple of days. I had to accept the fact that my frizzy hair isn't meant to be kept short. I now make it a point to keep it below my shoulders so that the length will weigh my hair down and prevent me from looking like an Afro.
