Went to Essensuals Bugis yesterday evening for hair cut + treatment because my hair have many spilt ends and whenever I woke up in the morning, my hair is tangled and its so grassy that I cant stand it anymore!
Some of you might have seen my instagram picture yesterday and must be wondering why did I chop off my long hair right? Well, I decided to chop off my long grassy hair and have a new hair makeover because I won the $200 voucher hair makeover at Essensuals Bugis from Cheryl Miles from 91.3fm! Really thanks her so much!! Now I love my hair so much!
Yes, its my first time going Essensuals Bugis for hair cut + treatment! My hairstylist and other hairstylist was really friendly and funny! The place there is also relaxing and comfortable! If you wanna have a hair cut/treatment/hair dye and etc, you guys should visit Essensuals Bugis!!!
So this is my hair before hair cut + treatment.
First thing my hairstylist said to me was Wah. Your hair so long ah?! Sad anot cutting off your long hair? and I said yea. okay okay only lor. *laugh* and she told me how spoilt is my hair and etc. So, she chopped off my long hair and asked me if I still want straight hair or try a bit wavy hair. I decided to tried the wavy hair and after that, I just leave everything to her.
Yes, I love my hair so much now because it look so silky, manageable and healthy now!
After hair cut, its time for treatment!
After wash + blow dry my hair and everything My hair is so silky and managable now!
Thanks to Essensuals Bugis Hair Rescue Treatment, my hair is now so smooth and manageable! And whenever I woke up, my hair is not grassy and tangled anymore! Yay!
Its really smoother and manageable now and my hair doesnt get tangled as much when I woke up in the morning! Say bye to my grassy and tangled hair and hi to my smooth, managable and healthy hair!
Spent 2 hour plus at Essensuals Bugis, and really thanks Kexin for accompanying me there!
And today morning, I woke up to a very smooth and not messy hair!
I remember when I was 17, I had a disastrous case of failed hair straightening. Back then, straight hair was the rage and since I have natural curls, I too jumped in and got my hair straightened. Three hours later, what I received was a head of frizzy hair! It was so badly damaged that I had to snip off my below shoulder length hair to a short bob. Even though the hair stylist was very apologetic and offered me five free treatments to get my hair to its original condition, the damage was done and I swore to never visit that particular salon again.
Thankfully I managed to find another hair stylist, a family friend. For more than 10 years, she was the one whom I went to whenever I needed to get my hair cut, colored or for treatment. However, as time went by, I realized that her charges were getting more and more exorbitant for the same services. On top of that, even though I turned up on time for my appointments, many a time, I had to wait for an hour or more before she came to me. That and the ever increasing cost of her services made me decide to look for another hair stylist.
It took me a while to find that another hair stylist that I could place my trust in and whose charges are reasonable as well. Im not a rich kid and honestly I dont believe in paying a hand or leg for a haircut. If that was the case, those neighborhood hair salons would have all closed down by now. After a few months, I managed to find one that I could trust and since then I have been going to him for my hair cuts, color and treatments.
On the day that I found Essensuals Bugis, I was actually looking for a salon to get my fringe straightened. I went to several salons in Bugis Junction and all of them quoted more than S$100 for that service. Seriously, who pays more than S$50 to get their fringe straightened? Essensuals Bugis was my last hope and my prayer was answered when they quoted me S$50. I was pretty happy with the end result but I wasnt sure if the hair stylist who straightened my fringe was the one I could trust.
So I decided to go back to him for a hair cut the following month and well, the rest is history. I have been going to since 2011 and Im happy to say that I had made the right choice in going to Essensuals Bugis back then. Wayne, my hair stylist, is always patient with me (he knows how particular I am when it comes to my hair), is attentive and meticulous, he doesnt rush through hair cuts, coloring or treatments and always recommends whats best and suits me. Ever since I started going to him, I had gotten much compliments about my hair cut and color. What I really like is that he doesnt hard sell unlike some of the hair stylists that I had encountered.
Its been two years since I went to Essensuals Bugis and I thought, why not write an entry about my journey with Essensuals Bugis. Now, this is not an advertorial, I always believed that good things are meant to be shared and trust me when I say that Wayne is good. Those who knows me will know that I only recommend services, shops or people whom I have tried and is good. I dont believe in recommending or sharing just for the sake of doing it. Everyones money is hard-earned, so I want to make sure what I shared is worth the time, effort and money.
This was my hair at its longest when I first visited Essensuals Bugis. The photo on the left shows my fringe before being straightened. It was getting a little too long and messy but you cant really tell from the photo. The photo on the right was taken after my fringe was straightened and trim by Wayne. Looks so much neater.
The photo on the left was taken after my second visit to Essensuals Bugis and getting my hair trimmed. It was so much more manageable after Wayne did his magic and that pretty much sealed the deal. The one of the last photo of me with long hair.
Ive never been known to have a same hairstyle for long and with long hair, I realized I was experiencing hair loss. After contemplating for a long time and much discussion with Wayne, I decided to cut it short. I remembered Wayne was quite shock at my decision and kept asking me if I was sure. He was afraid that I would regret my decision and he didnt want to see me crying if I regretted in the end. But then, its just hair and it will grow back anyway, so I told him to go ahead.
I was looking at a pixie cut but as I wasnt confident if I could carried it off, Wayne gave me a bob with side swept fringe. When I first saw my new look, I was really amazed by how refreshed I look and I look so much younger too!
Just before Chinese New Year in 2012, I decided to go all the way and snipped my hair real short. All fears of not being able to carry this hairstyle dissipated when Wayne was done with the haircut. I really love the edgy and yet chic look. Even though I gave everyone a shock with this hairstyle, I received nothing but compliments. Almost everyone said I looked really refresh and the hairstyle really suited me.
What I love about this hairstyle was that it cut down my preparation time in the morning by a lot! It also took me a much shorter time to get it dry. My only gross is that I had to get it trim once every two months to maintain the length. Looking at these photos, I really miss having this hairstyle and am thinking if I should cut my hair this short again.
This was taken in March 2012 after I returned from Japan. By then, it was getting a little too long for my liking so I visited Wayne to get it trim.
Half a year later, I decided to grow out the short hair and thus began the arduous journey of growing it out. This was taken when I was in Hanoi and as you can see, it was much longer. At this stage, the drying time was getting a little longer but was still manageable.
Just before I went over to Perth, I visited Wayne again for another trim and this time round, he gave me my signature look; back to having a short fringe. But this time round, no more straightening.
For the longest time ever, I always had dark colored hair. I guessed I got used to it when I was still flying and have never thought of trying a new color. Since I was going to color my hair for Chinese New Year, Wayne suggested going for a lighter shade. As always, I was skeptical but decided to trust him.
The photos above showed how I before and after getting the new color. Everyone was complimenting how much younger I look and looking at the photos, I really do agree that the new color shaved a few years off my age. Really glad that I trusted Waynes recommendation once again.
These photos were taken recently in April and earlier this month. After what seems like a long, long time, I can finally tie my hair up again. A very much relief in this hot sweltering weather.
If you look carefully, my fringe was pretty uneven in the photo on the right. This was because I actually trimmed my fringe on my own! I didnt have time to make a visit down to Essensuals Bugis so I decided to take matters into my own hands. Wayne almost flipped when I told him about it! *laughs*
After enduring my overgrown and extremely unkempt mane for at least three months cause I couldnt find time to pay Wayne a visit, I decided I had enough and managed to find some time to head down to Essensuals Bugis. Wayne was shocked at how messy my hair and asked me how I managed to endure it. I replied sheepishly that I tied it up most of the time.
Since I had neglected my poor mane for so long, Wayne decided to also give me a Japanese spa treatment to nourish my hair back to health. The difference in my hair texture and condition was evident and I love how silky smooth and manageable my hair is now. Whats more, treatments done at Essensuals Bugis really last!
After the treatment was completed, Wayne then gave me a trim and voila, I have nice looking and neat hair again! I dont usually take photos when Im having a hair cut but because I wanted to write this dedicated post, I decided to take photos of Wayne in action. Kudos to him for not being distracted by me.
Finally getting to the end of this entry; its been a long time since I wrote such a lengthy entry but Essensuals Bugis and Wayne really do deserve this.
If you are looking for a really hair stylist, I would really recommend Wayne. You can also check Essensuals Bugis on their Facebook and Instagram for their promotions."]
Ive been dying to change my hair colour,
at least something darker or not red-based related.
After hearing much reviews,
I booked an appointment with Essensuals Bugis.
My stylist for the day is Joey,
and yup, she is a chatty person,
which is good for me because I hate awkward silence.
(getting my hair done removing the pink colour for good =)
She also did cut my hair,
which I LOVE LOVE LOVE because it gives me a new edgy looks =D
and yea, she keep commenting that my face really look like anime character with my blonde-pink hair and bangs o.o
Surprisingly, my hair texture is not that bad according to her.. =D
also did treatment to give some nutrient and pampering to my hair ^^
(see the cool hi-tec machine above my head,, its awesome, I feel like I am in some kind of space ship)
After bleach and two times colour, finally I can say bye to the previous hair colour.
The reason why I choose blue because I think blue is the strongest colour after red, and dark blue wont be so contrasting if my hair roots grow and showing on my hair =/
Actually, im planning to have black hair for good after this blue,,
hope my decision wont be shattered though ^^
and now, the final result=D
For those who wished to get the crazy bold hair, I think so far Essensuals Bugis is the best.
They will consult you on your hair texture, cut, colour that will compliment your face and skin tone.
Also, there is also loyalty card, in which they will give you 1 stamp for every $50 spend and every 5-10 stamps will get you a gift =D
So far, Thank you Essensuals Bugis and Joey to make this whole thing pleasant and possible.
SOOOO , last Sunday i went to Essensuals Bugis for a haircut + treatment ! Ok , i didnt expect much because it is my very first time going Essensuals Bugis . BUT THEN my hairstylist Joey , really surprised me . She was really friendly & humorous ! Not only her , but everyone there are so friendly . The place is so so comfortable , no joke . Really !
This is me before my haircut + treatment . So so messy right ..
So the first thing Joey asked me was What do you think about your hair ? Do you think it is okay ?
I felt okay hahahah ! But then she is definitely not okay with my previous hair Because i had too much layer which tend to make the ends look really thin ?
So she have to chop it off for me ! Actually i didnt really say much , i just leave it to her because i trust her . And she really didnt disappoint me . Although is just a haircut , but my hair now is seriously SO SO MUCH softer & manageable than before !
Treatment after haircut ! hehehehe
After the wash , blow dry etc .. I WAS REALLY EXCITED TO SEE THE OUTCOME OF MY HAIR . REALLY .
YES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY SHOWED ME MIRACLE DO EXISTS !!!
My hair is so so so smooth now .
Its been 4 years since I last had my hair coloured and I was hesitant about colouring it. It was something that I wanted to do for a long time. Since I was turning 21 soon and I had to attend my cousins wedding, I thought why not just go ahead and colour it because Ive done it like 7 times?
Colour, black, colour, black etc my hair used to be damaged but thankfully, it wasnt like dried grass.
I chopped off my hair when I felt that it was time to say goodbye to the damaged hair, hence this was why I had short hair for a period of time.
WELLA hair products that the assistant and stylist recommended.
I wanted to get the shampoo but I was like No Edna, you have already spent a bomb on your hair. Please stop spending money.
I dont know what machine you call this, but Ill just name it the heat machine.
Okay, so this heat machine was turned on and supposedly let it on for 20 minutes. The alarm went off, my stylist was like , (Very black, really very black). And she left it on for another 10 minutes.
10 minutes passed, and she was back.
Wah, still cannot. I tell you my hair is super black or it refused to absorb the dye.
Okay, another 10 more minutes.
This time, it was finally done!
Total cost: $139(Cut, colour & treatment package) + $20(mid-hair length) = $159
The process was wash, blow, cut, applied sensitive scalp solution, applied dye solution, wash, treatment, wash, blow and style.
(If Im not wrong lah, huh.)
If you were to ask me whether it was worth paying such a price for everything, I would reluctantly say no. Why? For me, its a little pricey. With so many awesome deals on sites like Groupon, deal.com.sg etc, its competitive. I decided to give Essensuals Bugis a shot because it was highly recommended by bloggers. Like duh, of course lah, because they are paid to do that.
For service wise, excellent!
I informed them that I have sensitive scalp and they applied this solution or something onto my scalp before colouring my hair. I was told it was to protect my scalp. *thumbs up* I dont know if you have to pay for this or its on the house but they didnt ask me for any top up. I think they knew my birthday was in a weeks time, so they decided to give it to me for free? I dont know. You can try asking.
But the service was excellent, I cant recall how many times they asked me Is everything okay? Do you feel any pain on your scalp?
The assistant kept asking me. Wah, best lah. I like this kind of service.
My stylist caught me not drinking water. She went Eh, you dont drink water one ah?
I like the interior of the salon as it is bright, airy and spacious. If you have friends, boyfriend, husband who accompany you for the haircut, fret not, they will not get bored as the salon has this area with comfy cushion, magazines and even play station 3 to kill their boredom! Aww! Thoughtful right?! The bright and attractive colour of the cushion will definitely attract you to stay in rather than being out in the hot sun. They even have a wall of fame of bloggers who did advertorial for the salon
Do look for Wayne Tang, the senior hair stylist over there. He is nice, super friendly and you easily strike a conversation with him. Most importantly, he is really professional about his service and not just blindly follow the latest trend in the industry. He will give you his valuable advice on what hair style suit you and why you shoudnt cut it this way. AT they end of the day, you will get healthy, shiny and really soft hair! A happy customer afterall. I will defintely be back for my colour retouch for my ugly growing hair root! Cant wait for his magical hands to do his work on my hair again! Yay!
I <3 my hair! No colours cos my growing hair root is really ugly and due to time constraint ill drop by end of sep to do colour retouch after Im back from my Australia trip=D Another thing to look froward to!
Ive just rebonded my hair at Essensuals Bugis on Monday,
Big thanks to Ziwei for the lobang!
The folks at Essensuals Bugis were so friendly and humorous,
So I felt quite comfortable, even though it was my first time there.
Especially the director, Bryan who gave me a few nicknames within a short span of 4 hours LOL.
Like Carol, just because I told him the name of my blogshop is called Carosbella.
Fortunately, he didnt call me Bella!
I really detest this name because of Kristen Stewarts role in Twilight. *roll eyes*
Oops so sorry for digressing HAHA..
Heres a picture of my hair with my hairstylist, Joey which Ive put up on Instagram that night!
A little bit dark and blurred oops.. :X
It sure feels good to have tamed hair now, even though the ends are extremely dry and tangled,
Which is probably due to the fact that Ive not cut my hair since early January.
Goodness come to think of it now, I really wonder how did I manage to tolerate that.
Maybe my previous hairstylist was really good that my hair doesnt look too crappy after so long. :p
I think I should get my hair trimmed soon, and perhaps a new fresh coat of colour!
Decided to visit Bugis Essensuals because Sissy wanted to do shoulder length hair
And we thought it would be better to find a more reputable salon to do it.
I merely had a fringe cut.
Still want to keep my hair long for a change!
Then maybe cut after I get sick of long hair, haha.
Sissy looking very happy with her change in hairstyle!
I think she looks more refreshed with shorter hair too.
My hair ends were splitting pretty badly and starts to tangled.
Decided to cut my hair due to really dry ends..
Purchased Groupon voucher earlier on.
Today headed to Essensuals Hairdressing at Bugis.
I felt their customer services was pretty awesome.
My stylist (Mervyn) will politely introduce himself and a consultation, he really listen and advice. (came across salons that dont listen or just simply follow)
Follow by wash cut treatment rinse dry trim.
Although my hair was wash by another assistance (ps: didnt catch his name =x) he ensures that im well taken care off too =)
I had really thick hair.. and tend to curl if its around shoulder length..
so was advice to cut slightly below shoulder length and less layering to reduce hair frizziness =)
Doing Wella Intensive Moisturizing and Macadamia Oil Hair Treatment with Micro-Mist Steamer
tips: after treatment, advice not to wash hair for a day in order to let the treatment set
*fail at wink lol*
ps: i cant stop smelling my hair.. smells really nice >///
tempting to try coloring / highlight next =)
Hair was done by Mervyn Chan =)
Went there for their Japanese Spa Treatment Super mad loved my hair after that. But as my hair is quite bad due to frequent dying, one hair treatment not enough. But Ill be going down soon for it! I did a post with pictures on this, and Vlog if you wanna see how smooth my hair is!.
