GYMM BOXX began as a single gym situated at the top of a multi-storey car park in Bedok Reservoir back in October 2010. GYMM BOXX made its mark as Singapore’s first successful answer to the need for a friendly, affordable premium gym. Today, GYMM BOXX remains a fast-growing, 100% local fitness chain, operating several branches islandwide in Singapore.
-Senior and Youth rates available.

Ample equipment and in good condition! Spacious enough and not as packed when compared to Bishan community gym. Clean and spacious washroom, wouldn't mind going back to work out again!
With fitness and the gym lifestyle all a craze now, we are spoilt for choice with your True Fitness, California Fitness, Virgin Active, Fitness First brands dominating the market. But then, what about those of us who do not want to splash out thousands of dollars a year for gym memberships? There's GymmBoxx XL.
Setup in a few select neighbourhoods across the country, with more expansion to come for sure, this chain of gymnasiums is a blessing for your average heartlander, he who wants to work out and maintain a certain level of fitness while ensuring that it does not burn a hole in his pocket. As soon as I heard of one opening in Bishan at the newly renovated community club, I was all game to sign myself up.
Opened on National Day 2013, this gym is still relatively new and with an early bird opening sign up rate of $140 for 3 months, it was a steal. A 3 month membership at this gym is $165, and gives you unlimited access during their opening hours (8am - 11pm on weekdays and 8am - 8pm on weekends). They also have 6 months and year long options as well. Added to that, they also have personal trainers, whom, in my opinion, still cost a bomb, but would definitely be more affordable than the trainers available at the more established global gym brands.
The gym offers up everything you could ask for, from a range of cardio equipment like your stationary cycles, treadmills and elliptical machines, to a huge selection of free weights, and a wide range of assisted weight machines to target select muscle groups. There's never an extended waiting time for most of these, and if there is, you can simply move on to another machine first, or share with those using it (the people here are really friendly, I'd like to think is an attribute of living in Bishan, which I do!) Jokes aside, you really can get a great full body workout here. Did I mention the equipment here is really well maintained, and with it being less than a year old, you are still working out with machines that have hardly seen wear and tear?
The only drawback, it's miniscule bathroom and shower facility. With 4 to 5 people in the bathroom, it already feels a tad bit too crowded, with very few showers, and a cramped washbasin area. But then again I am assuming that most people visiting neighbourhood gyms do belong to and live in that neighbourhood, and that a quick walk home for a shower might actually be modus operandi for them, like it was for me since I was 5 minutes away.
A very affordable way to keep fit, stay healthy and not burn a hole in your pocket. One tip, try to come really early on weekdays, or at approximate 9pm on weeknights, those periods are the times when human traffic is at its minimum.
Recently I have been hearing quite a fair bit about Gymm Boxx and wanting some time alone; I decided to head down to Gymm Boxx XL to check it out. It is located at the Bishan Community Center which is a 5 minute walk from the train station. Personally upon reaching the entrance of Gymm Boxx the vibe that greeted me was pleasant. Registering under a first time visitor was swift and I headed to change into my gear. The entry fee for non-members is going at $6. (I was a little surprised on this aspect as prior to going I checked online and it stated $5.)
Anyhows; the layout of Gymm Boxx bishan is pretty simple. It's structured with the lockers outside the males and females. You can rent a locker at 20 cents. A disclaimer will be that towels aren't provided in Gymm Boxx. So do remember to pack your own. Thankfully, I was prepared with a small towel. The workout area is pretty wide and open. There were a lot of benches provided at the weights area which in my personal opinion; was a plus-point! Lesser waiting. Heading down on a saturday meant that the gym was quite packed. To say the amount of testosterone in one gym is packed would have been an understatement! There were only three girls in the entire gym, myself included.
Pictures above were lifted off the internet as yours truly was busy with arms & shoulders day and didn't take pictures. Also, Situated outside the gym is 'The Protein Cafe' which is by Fitlion. The focus of the meals at TPC are protein-rich and healthy meals. What caught my eye was the smoothies which is made with Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey Powder. I tried their 'best of both worlds' which is a mix of both banana and strawberry. The overall taste was generally alright, not too sweet. However I felt it could have been better. The smoothie is going at $3.50 so check it out when you swing by Gymm Boxx bishan!
So, my overall verdict on Gymm Boxx XL will be 3.5/5. You could say I am spoilt being a member of True Fitness. I'll say that what Gymm Boxx offers is value for money. In terms of the equipments provided, they are well-kept, there's sufficient equipments (you should see the amount of threadmills lined up on one end) and the membership rates are afordable. If you are looking for more; I will say check out True Fitness and the likes. (ie Fitness First, Amore, etc) Granted that the membership rate is going to be way higher. However you also get additional amenities such as steam rooms, saunas, swimming pools and many more.
Gymm Boxx XXL in my opinion is a great gym to go to! Located at Bishan CC which is 5min away from the Bishan MRT station. Memebership fee is $165 for 3 months with a one time membership fee of $30! Price is still quite reasonable but, towel and locker is the main issue. In my opinion it is a gym with fantastic equipment but if you want quality service it will be better to pay the extra $30 to join True Fitness/California/Fitness First. Crowd here is also younger, ranging from 16 to 24.
