GENERIC FITNESS FIRST BLURB:
Fitness First is probably the largest chain of fitness clubs in Singapore, with 12 outlets around the island at present. All outlets offer a similar range of cardio and weights machines, free weights, and an exercise studio or several. Naturally, shower rooms come with your basic toiletries, towels, hairdryers and plastic bags.
Fusionopolis is located in the one-north complex near Buona Vista. The building is right on top of one-north station in fact, and also has fairly cheap parking.
Spacious outlet with loads of equipment.
It also has 3 fitness studios - general group exercise, spin studio and a mind & body class studio. It also has a pool. So there are loads of classes too.
Probably the nicest reception staff of the FF outlets.
It's not a "Platinum" outlet so workout attire isn't provided.
Solid 4* rating for this outlet.
When you want to look for a gym, it is all about location location location. You have got to get one which is easy to get to from home and/or work so that you can keep to the exercise routine and not be able to find excuses to skip out on that work out! And Fitness First is one of the biggest gym operators in Singapore, with many outlets dotted around our little island. So you definitely can't use the excuse that it is wayyy to far or difficult to get to.
Besides the convenient locations of the gyms, they have a wide variety of classes and well maintained equipment to keep you entertained and challenged. They have many different types of classes ranging from the ones that train your cardiovascular stamina (body attack, body combat), to classes that build strength (body pump, BUTT camp, ABT), and the more dance-y classes that train your stamina and dance moves (sh'bam, body jam, body step). There are also classes that help with toning, strength and flexibility (Pilates, different kinds of yoga, body balance). In addition, they also have some special classes that are specific to instructors and outlets that can add variety to your workout routine. And the classes are suitable for people of all different abilities because there are always options (like you could walk instead of jog and still keep to the tempo of the track). So you just have to pick the one that suits you. Some outlets like the one at Fusionopolis also have a pool if swimming is your preferred choice of exercise.
Their changing rooms are mostly well kept and clean. Although it does get crowded and the bathrooms do get a bit dirtier during peak hours (especially the Paragon outlet. Note to the management there: please clean the bathrooms more often in the weekends!!!).
And lastly, the instructors here are mostly very engaging, encouraging and inspiring! And that really makes the difference for your workout, especially when you feel like giving up or passing out=)
I have worked out here once or twice before when I was in search for the gym for me. This place is pretty decent, conveniently located next to buona vista mrt and being just a short walk away from Holland Village. My usual habit here was to park my car at Holland Village and have a light warm up run to Fusionpolis Way then commence on the work out. The trainers are decent too, a little too outspoken if I may, but they aren't too bad. They feature a full set of equipment here, so you will not be missing out on anything. The change rooms aren't too bad either, featuring good space and cleanliness.
It had quite an upbeat nature to it, very encouraging which is important in a gym I suppose. I enjoyed the ambiance and the culture here.
