I'll usually pop by on weekend afternoons, and have never had the need to make an appointment. Clamber up the dim steps, chuck your foot ware at the rack, and the establishment is a quiet respite from the busy street just a couple of metres away. The shop is usually empty, and the beautician is typically hovering about on the battered sofa or behind the cashier. There are three barber like chairs for you to ease yourself into, albeit uncomfortably, as they've definitely seen better days.
Getting my brows done is a relatively pain free affair at $6 a pop, and I'm in and out under 10minutes. It's a fuss free and quick endeavor that I'm able to easily squeeze in on errand packed weekends. I've been patronising Henna ever since I discovered threading, and don't see myself switching establishments any time soon.
It's something almost magical, or at least that's the feeling I get when I enter the comfortably dim path towards Henna. Henna is something I've never done there, but if you're looking for a place to get your eyebrows done, or any other body/face hair removed, this is a place worth checking out.
There's hardly ever massive queues, and 15 minutes is the longest I've had to wait without an appointment. So, it's easy to just rock up there and one of the ladies who works there will your face sorted out in no time. They also do waxing so you've got quite a few options to consider in the hair removal department.
What makes it good is that it's right in the food-friendly street of East Coast Road, so you can explore Katong and have lunch while making your trip to Henna. Parking is tricky, so be a bit adventurous and take a bus.
