Do you face the frustrating problem of having hairy legs, arms, underarms, upper lip (lady-mustache) or even the restricted area down below?
I am naturally hairy but I made it worse by shaving it when I was younger. Now it's thicker than before and a lot more noticeable. Many of you may have done the same (I'm guessing 90%?) and are completely regretting it now. I used to stress over this all the time and have thoughts like "sigh, I'm going to have to shave for the rest of my life" every time I'm shaving or staring at my hairy areas.
I have tried practically everything and none of them seem to be an ideal solution.
Shaving caused my hair to grow out a lot thicker and faster plus it always left stubs so my pits look slightly on the dark side.
Hair removal cream was great for my underarms during my secondary school days. That was before I learnt to shave. I was so lazy to remove my hair because it's so troublesome? Every single time you need to remove your hair, you have to apply the cream, wait for 10-15mins and shower to wash it off. Shower every time you see a few stubs! Goodness! Also, because the chemicals in the cream dissolve the hair, it also caused irritation to my skin. Redness and slight rash.
Tweezing was too time consuming because I am too hairy and plucking them one strand by one strand took hours.. even my neck and hands started aching when I was only half done.
Epilation was quick. When my mom bought me an epilator I was elated! I could finally do speed plucking! However, it turned out to be disappointing. I kept getting ingrown hair & my skin turned dry and it never plucks it cleanly. I still have to resort to tweezing the remaining strands or stubs. FYI my epilator cost SGD 150 so it's not because it's lousy okay :(
Wax strips are downright useless. The hair has to be as long as the hair you see on a guy's leg - y'know, the long curly kind. If it isn't that long, don't even bother trying. For females these wax strips are a complete waste of money.
Hot wax was my favourite for short while. It didn't leave stubs and it was a quick process. However it hurt so much!!! Especially at the brazillian area! Not to mention, it still gives you ingrown hair (less, but there still is) and dry skin. I recently even read that it will cause my skin to sag and become wrinkly if I were to continue waxing for a few more years. I WAS TRAUMATIZED.
I've never tried IPL before but many of those I have researched on are too expensive and there was no way I could afford it. Since then, I resigned to fate that being hairy was a part of me. Shaving my legs, epilating my underarms, waxing my brazillian area.. I had to keep doing it till I was old and wrinkly.
Then the best thing happened to me.
De Sanctuary walked into my life!!!!!!
I cannot express how thankful I am for this ^-^
For the benefit of those who do not know what IPL hair removal is:
What is IPL?
Intense Pulsed Light is the process of directing focused, broad-spectrum light to the skin to permanently inhibit hair growth. When this intense light travels through the skin, it meets with the hair follicles and converts into heat energy when combined with melanin-rich hair roots.
The heat vaporisers the root, allowing the hair shaft to shed from the skin. The cells responsible for producing the hair, are also destroyed in the process, resulting in the hair being permanently removed.

Take a look at the picture of my upper lip right before the treatment and right after the treatment. Oh my goodness.. that unsightly lady-mustache! Can't believe I've been living with this all my life.. tried threading once and it hurt so bad I never went back. Don't laugh at me ok! Because after all the IPL sessions I will be squeaky clean! Just wait and see!!

day1 & week2
The horror. Damn disgusting right?!?
(Yes I couldn't wear sleeveless clothing for quite a while, for the sake of the above pictures.)
You can see that my underarm skin is rather dry due to constant epilation. However, I was surprised at how much it improved after only ONE session :O The "after" picture on the right is 2 weeks after the treatment without any shaving or plucking done. Normally it grows out so quickly that I have to epilate every 2 days. But now it's been almost 2 weeks and still so few strands! I am truly amazed.
I always assumed that one session wouldn't help at all but it actually made quite a difference. Not vastly, but noticeable. Hopefully after a few more sessions I can proudly wear sleeveless tops without shaving! Yup I can't epilate anymore because epilation is using the plucking technique and will pull the hair roots out completely. Shaving only snips off the surface of the hair.
By the way, they're rates are super affordable!!! One of the cheapest in SG based on what I could find! Will be working on my legs during my next appointment. Ladies, follow my posts closely to see the gradual results! I'm so excited to see it for myself as well :)
