If you haven't attended a Zumba class before, you’d think that you accidentally stepped into a party instead of an exercise class. With its fast, upbeat Latin music and booty-shaking dance moves, A Zumba workout definitely isn’t the kind you'll find in traditional fitness classes. Created in the 1990s by Alberto “Beto” Perez, a Colombian fitness instructor, Zumba’s popularity has now exploded worldwide. Zumba classes are now held all over the world. It has gained a large following in Singapore with studios dedicated to Zumba dancing and classes in almost every gym and community centre around!

What are Zumba classes like?

Zumba classes typically last from 45 minutes to an hour and a half. Classes will start with warm-ups to get your body warm and ready for the exercise ahead, and to prevent possible injuries. The instructor will then teach the class choreography, based on the music that they have selected. Be prepared for high-energy latin-inspired Zumba moves! Some instructors even improvise moves on the go, so don’t be surprised if they suddenly come up with something spontaneous. Just go with the flow, and have fun. At the end of the class, participants will cool down and stretch to bring your heart rate back to normal and reduce the number of muscle aches you will inevitably get later in the night.


Each instructor has their own different style, so be sure to try out different instructors to find the one which you feel fits you the best. After all, it won’t be as fun if you find the movements too awkward for you, or too fast or too slow. Find your own personal style of Zumba!

What should I bring?

Yourself! Zumba requires not extra equipment and has no special attire. Just keep in mind that it’s all about comfort to have a fuss-free Zumba workout. Dress in comfotable clothing - like a cotton or dry fit top with track pants or tights - anything that does not restrict your movements!

It is best to wear covered and comfortabe shoes meant for a workout to prevent any foot injuring while prvoide adequate physiological support while you Zumba away. Ballet flats and heels are definitely out of the question. To have a real good time, you shouldn't have to worry about any discomfort in the process.  

Aso remember to bring a water bottle to hydrate yourself, and perhaps a gym towel if you fancy. Some Zumba studios and gyms have shower facilities so you can freshen up before your next activity. 

Why should I go for Zumba?

If you’re someone who loves a party atmosphere and always find yourself tapping to the beat of the music being played, Zumba is definitely for you. Even if you’re not, it is still a fantastic way to workout. The best part about a Zumba workout is that you do  to succumb to conventional and boring ways of working out. It lets you have a whole lot of fun while dancing moving your body to your favourite songs and hits. If you cringe at the thought of running or going to the gym for the sake of exercising, then give Zumba a shot and you're in for an immense amount of fun and laughter. 

I don’t know how to dance, should I still go?

Zumba isn’t about catching all the dance moves and doing it all on point, it’s about having fun with the music and grooving to the beat. Instructors purposeful create steps that are easy to pick up and fun to carry out, a background in dancing is absolutely not require for Zumba! Furthermore, dancing and music bonds people too, who knows? You might just find your new best friend in your new Zumba class.

There’s always a first time to everything, so why not give Zumba a shot and sign up for sessions of merriment and delight!

I’m a bit scared of going alone, what if I need help?

Who says you have to go alone? Bring friends along! After all, Zumba is structured more like a party, the more the merrier!. Signing up alone is also mighty fine. The mood of Zumba classes is always lgiht and cheerful with upbeat music, making a friend or two will be easy!

If you’re unsure of anything, friendly and engaging instructor are always available to guide you along, or to clarify certain steps. They would be more than happy to calrify your woes, should there even be any in the first place. 

 So instead of feeling intimidated, just let loose and soak up the fun-filled spirit.

Just happened to walk pass this spa , i thght i give it a try. The lady that was assigned to me was call Kat. She is very good at it, gave me a good strong massage it was totally relaxing.. would definetely go back again. One of the Best massages I had in years..

Walked past did shop and decided to enquire about their eyebrow embroidery (i did not look online for reviews or anything. chanced upon the shop). Was told by the sales person that there is only 2 packages - $380 vs $980. They obviously tried to sell me the $980 service (no downtime. effect of this looks like you've shaded your eyebrows) by telling me the cons of the $380 service (downtime of 3-5 days i.e. cannot wash eyebrows/touch water on eyebrows for 3-5 days. effect of this is a line-by-line drawn on your eyebrow to mimic them). paid a total of $1018 ($980+$38 for a soothing gel) The treatment was almost painless (minimal pain) and the beautician did a good job in designing my brows (2 different designs to choose from) before finally proceeding. i'm very satisfied with their service in general but dissatisfied later that i found out through searching online that there were many intermediate price range, which i was not informed about despite specifically asking 2-3 times as i was quite taken aback that the price was so steep.If i had been informed about the differences between the services, i might have made a more informed choice..

My first experience with jap salon. Went for haircut yesterday. Overall service was good. But i expect a better skill from director level. Not worth the money of $80 just for a normal haircut. After haircut my hair look frizzier. Doesnt meet my overall expectation.
