This was my second visit to D’sire Hair Salon since I last visited them 6 months ago and their hospitality, warmth, services and professionalism was as good, if not, even better than I remembered it to be.
I was ushered to a seat and introduced to Ted, my personal stylist for the next half year. I discussed with Ted about the changes I would like to make to my hair. With Ted’s recommendation, we decided on a Screen Bleach and Tone for my hair ends and goldwell topchic colour for the upper parts of my hair.
This was my original hair:
The ends had sustained a reasonable amount of damage due to past treatments in the line of my modeling job. Ted was very quick to notice how frizzy it was and, almost as if she could read my mind, she quickly assured me that she was not going to make it worst by bleaching the ends.
The first step involved toning the lower half of my hair with this bright pink paste.
It can look abit intimidating for first-timers like me. Ted must have been really experienced with handling such customers though. She kept emphasizing to me that this was not going to the final result. The extra effort she put in to reassuring me made the experience a notch above the rest.
In my opinion, it is very important how a stylist manage their customers expectations; and I think Ted has done exceedingly well in this. At every step she would always inform me of what to expect, what I might not feel comfortable about and was very honest with what the results could be. This has definitely helped me to better understand the treatments my hair was undergoing and their results/effects.
Ted then followed up with the topchic colour of dark reddish-brown on the upper half of my head. During the long waiting times, we chatted a little and was really glad to find out that I was not alone in facing the issue of having brittle hair (result of having too much chemical treatments done onto hair). Ted even taught me how to care for the brittle ends and advised me of the dos and don’ts when managing my hair at home.
Lastly, Ted put my hair through a two-step intensive treatment. The first step included a steam treatment. I really like the hair steamer at D’sire because it did not feel too hot and head movement was not too restricted. The second step was a leave-in treatment which was done at the sink.
Here’s the final result of my reddish-copper hair (with a darker top as requested by myself).
To top it off, Ted told me she felt that soft curls would suit my hair well and took an extra few minutes to curl my hair despite the fact that I was just going home after that. Such effort really made my day.
Before leaving D’sire Hair, I was given my ‘christmas package’ of hair care products by Screen. This is already the second time I am using Screen’s hair care products and I have nothing but absolutely rave reviews for this line of organic hair care product. Most of the times, we might think that organic products might not be as effective as the standard drugstore brands’ because of the gentler chemicals. Screen has proved me absolutely wrong, especially with their conditioner. I will definitely continue to use this range for my personal hair care at home. I will be returning to D’sire for a touch-up/ review and treatment for my dry hair in two weeks as advised by Ted. I’m already looking forward to it!
