There's nothing like a good massage after a long day of work (or play). Well, even though I stretch out the tension during yoga classes, sometimes there are just some tight knots that I need some help with. Sadly, I'm also terribly ticklish and hence I'm always tense during the spa or massage session (from anticipating the funny spots and controlling my laughter). Well, I must say the KENKO Wellness Spa is one of the few who managed to make me feel at ease and actually relaxed.
I was first introduced to Kenko by Z who insisted that I needed a massage. And boy did I! The shifu was kneaded my back like nobody's business and while it was painful during the session (because my muscles were very tight), I slept like a baby that night and woke up feeling like a million bucks. It's no wonder that they've been in this Foot Reflexology and Wellness Spa industry for over 20 years in Singapore.
S and I checked out the outlet at the Esplanade recently. Stepping through the doors, we were transported into a place of zen. What I don't like about typical foot reflexology parlors is that I feel rather exposed. The KENKO facility has mini privacy screens so that you can just relax in your own space.
The chairs are also very comfy. I took a quick bounce in one before heading to our room for a full body massage. If you don't wanna bare your soles to the world, they also do have private foot reflexology rooms.
For full body massages and spas, you'd get to enjoy the relaxing environment of their spa rooms. It felt tropical but I'm glad they didn't go overboard with the decor. On site shower facilities are available and well maintained. The well cushions beds are also heated so that one wouldn't feel cold during their treatment.
If you're looking at an indulgent pampering session that goes beyond a simple massage, pick from their spa packages that includes bath, scrub and mask (90min onwards, $150+). I'd go with the Time-to-Relax package which is 150 mins ($215/sgl) of unadulterated bliss. This includes a 30 mins scrub, 30 mins bath, 60 mins body massage and a 30 mins acupressure head massage. LOVE! Couple spa price is $362 so there's some savings too!
If you don't have the luxury of time but still want to be thoroughly loosened up, go with the Signature Kenko Deep Massage. We had Fiona and Yin Fun as our therapists and we have nothing but praise for the both of them.
Yin Fun was really good at reading my body language and she avoided all my ticklish spots without compromising on the quality of the massage. The knots from my neck and shoulders simply melted away under her strong hands and oh that head massage was just divine. This was probably the least torturous massage I've had experience thus far. In fact, I actually almost fell asleep during the massage and that NEVER happens. As for S, Fiona gave him a really strong massage just like he wanted and he seriously considered buying a package immediately after the massage.
The prices are quite reasonable. The 1h body massage is $120. Combination massage e.g. Foot-Hand-Shoulder Massage (60 mins, $89) and Foot Reflexology (55 mins, $69) are available. You can also opt for longer sessions and they're priced accordingly.
If you see yourself going back repeatedly, the session packages gives you a good discounted rate and it starts from 10 sessions. Each full body massage would work out to be less than $100. Kenko also has a Credit Value Package (for all services) and the credits could be shared with family and friends.
