While I was with the team, I was drawn to their off peak promotion (http://www.beaupass.com/sg/businesses/face-bistro-holland-village) at $68 for a Clear Cleasing Facial, and I decided to give it a shot. I haven’t indulged in a facial for more than a year – don’t judge me.
I booked through the Wellnessly platform and my appointment for the next day was confirmed within a couple of hours. This was not a sponsored service by Face Bistro.
When I arrived, I was brought into a clean and cosy room that boasted of a fluffy comforter and a towel lined pillow. I had to first change into a robe that was a tube dress, and what I really liked was that it was not worn out and loose.
While the room was small, it wasn’t cluttered. The room wasn’t exactly soundproof - you will definitely hear footsteps and conversations outside the door, but the staff and other customers were conscious to keep their volume low.
My beautician was a lady who was polite but did not make any small talk. Throughout the entire appointment, there weren’t any conversations other than “when was the last time you did your facial?” and “you should do the AHA facial to help with your extraction.”
And so I upgraded to the AHA facial that cost me $148 in the end.
The AHA facial involves applying (I believe) AHA on your skin before extraction to help with removing of the clogs. The beautician didn’t warn me before application that it was going to itch a little since it was an acid. I would prefer to have been pre-empted about the discomfort of the AHA solution. Fortunately it only lasted for about 10 minutes tops before she came in for extraction.
Extraction was a breeze, there were some intense wrestling for stubborn blackheads, but other than that, she was gentle and thorough. I was glad that most of my clogs were cleared, and there weren’t any bleeding or bruises from the extraction.
To prevent me from breaking out, the beautician had to replace my massage with a cooling mask – which was quite a treat. It was a heavy mask that she applied over my face, including my eyes, and it was soothing to the just-extracted skin. I fell asleep during this mask, only woken up by the commotion next door when the customer finished her treatment.
The experience was pampering and therapeutic. I left the place for another meeting confidently without make up. I was really impressed by how clean my face was, and it was the first time my skin wasn’t red and angry after a facial.
There was no hard selling involved, no packages or products pushed to you while making payment. I appreciated this about Face Bistro!
