It’s the time of the year again where you start making a list of resolutions and promise yourself that you will keep to them for at least 3 months!
Most of the time, resolutions are not kept to because we get busy or lazy. But “busy” is really just another excuse for being lazy. Keeping to New Year resolutions, or any resolutions for that matter takes a heap for determination and motivation. On average, it takes more than two months before a new behaviour becomes automatic - 66 days to be exact. And how long it takes a new habit to form can vary widely depending on the behaviour, the person, and the circumstances.
The trick to keeping to your New Year resolution is to make them simple and rewarding. Reinventing conventional resolutions that you have been struggling to keep to is a lot easier than you think it is!
If anything, your list should only comprise of the absolute essentials – short and sweet. Anything more will only serve to add to the burden of you actually keeping to your list of resolutions. That saying, the shorter the list, the better. What’s more important in life than health is? Being healthy is the root of all good things in life.
Here are 4 resolutions that should definitely be on your list (or the only ones that should be on your list):
1. Workout More
“Working out more” or “exercising more” or anything along similar lines certainly appears frequently on multiple lists of your own and on lists of family and friends. Working out is easy to neglect especially, in our urban fast-paced lives. Working out does not only entail putting on your running shoes and heading out for a jog nor hitting the gym. It’s time to ditch the workout and join the party!!
Upbeat and fun-filled Zumba classes will make you look forward to working out instead of dreading them. Research has shown that doing activities in groups creates a collective memory that makes experience more fun and memorable. Grab one or two of your friends and join the party together! Here one resolution that you’ll keep to for months to come!!
2. Remove Makeup Thoroughly Before Sleeping
Long-term avoidance of cleansing while continuing to wear make-up is detrimental to your skin in the long-run. The effects of sleeping after a long day out without properly removal of make-up is worse than what you think.

Our complexion is arguably the largest factor of our outlook and affects many aspects of lives that can be, and is within control. It only takes a little more effort in ensuring thorough removal, and consistency in taking care of our skin!
3. Drinking Fruit Infused Water
Drinking sufficient amount of water each day is essential. You lose water throughout the day—through your breath, sweat, urine, and bowel movements. Living in a in a hot climate, like Singapore, you lose even more fluid. Water keeps every part of your body working properly. It helps your body flush wastes and stay at the right temperature. It can help prevent kidney stones and constipation.
Many opt for the alternative sweetened beverages over tasteless water but, while it may taste better, it is definitely not the healthier alternative. Preparing your own fruit infused water is cost-efficient and definitely the healthier choice. Besides, preparing your own allows you to only drink your favourite blend and it doesn’t even take much effort to prepare!
